The club kicked off the year’s sea diving with a trip to the wreck of the Baggy, just off Lyme Regis. Departing in temperatures around -5°C, it was certainly a bracing start, and the air temperature hadn’t warmed much by the time we reached West Bay Harbour.
Despite the cold, conditions were excellent on the water, with flat seas making for a calm and safe journey. Our first dive of the year took place on the Baggy, one of our well-known and accessible wreck sites, although visibility was unfortunately zero. Even so, it was fantastic to be back in the water, enjoying the fresh sea air and the feeling of starting the diving season in the open water.
The day was a reminder that sea diving isn’t just about conditions underwater; the journey, the environment, and being out in nature all add to the experience. A refreshing way to begin another year of diving adventures with the club.
