Two divers braved the conditions this morning for a dive at Vobster, proving that a bit of cold weather is no match for a good excuse to get underwater. For those who are interested, and for those who are definitely not interested, namely Medders and Andy, the visibility is continuing to improve after the recent landslide and was a very respectable 8 to 10 metres in places.
The water temperature was a positively balmy 7 degrees, which was actually about five degrees warmer than the air temperature at the start of the dive. Kitting up was the coldest part of the whole experience, but once in the water it was surprisingly comfortable and well worth it.
The dive lasted 74 minutes, with most of the time spent cruising around the deeper areas at roughly 25 metres. It was a steady, relaxed dive with plenty of time to enjoy the improved conditions and stretch the legs after a bit of time out of the water.
After surfacing, there was only one sensible plan, which involved a well earned coffee and a burger to warm up and refuel.
It was great to be back in the water after 84 days with no diving for various reasons. A proper reset and a timely reminder of why we all keep coming back for more
